In our pursuit of fitness and personal growth, there are always going to be factors beyond our control. These are the “life happens” factors- our stress levels, an illness (whether personal, or a close family member), are just a few. What we need to focus on are the controllable factors, the things that we can effect change on regardless of what else is happening in our lives. I’ll go into greater detail in later blog posts on each subject but if I had to boil it down to 5 factors, they would be:
Granted, controlling these factors doesn’t happen without effort. We can’t just hope that the stars align and that these things will fall into place. In order to control our ability to get enough sleep, we need to manage our time effectively. We need to prioritize being in bed at a certain time over things like Netflix, scrolling through Instagram, or whatever it is that keeps you from laying down your weary head. Same thing with nutrition- control of this factor takes a plan, preparation, and execution. Mindset is the fuel that keeps the rest of these factors running.
Life is wild, and there will be many factors that are out of your control. It’s easy to get caught up in these things, and to feel like we are backsliding quicker than we can climb. But I want you to take a look at the list again. Imagine if all of those things were going your way in your life, right this moment?
They can be. The choice is yours.
