A NOTE ON HAND RIPS
While bloody hands might be the battle scars of your last WOD, you should also treat those pretty hands to some love every once and a while. No matter how hardcore your rip, it’s no good for those hands! This will ensure you’re never out of commission due to some flaps of skin and raw calluses. Not good.
The trick is to build up those calluses just slightly. Anybody new to crossfit should make sure you handle those bars and build up that nice thick skin. Once you have that tough skin, make sure you keep it smooth.
Keep the skin even to make sure no ridges or rough bits get pulled and tear. Use a file, callus shaver, sand paper or any of those crazy foot pedicure tools you see at the pharmacy (just read the directions first!).
As much as we love to have our bloody badges of honor, if it takes you out of the game for a week or even 2-3 days, it’s not worth it.
