My posture is horrible and has been ever since I was a kid. Before I didn’t really think much of it but now that I’m older I’m realizing the importance of standing up straight. Having bad posture isn’t just bad for your back, it can impact your gut health and getting enough air when you breath….maybe that’s why I suck at met-cons? Here are some quick tips to help improve your posture.
- Stand up straight: Duh…pretend your standing against a wall. Head straight, shoulders back and boom! You’ll look taller…and might improve your jerk too.
- Don’t slump at your desk: Sit all the way back in your chair. Be mindful of how are you sit down. Look for a cushion or pillow to support your lumbar
- Stop checking your phone! Talk to the person you’re with. Looking down at your phone puts your neck in a not so fun position. Try moving your phone up to eye level. It could save stress on your neck and build some shoulder muscles too 🙂
- Work on your six-pack: Too many pounds on the gut add stress on your back. Hit up some extra core work before or after class to balance things out.
