Talayna Fortunato’s (3rd Place Woman in 2012 CF Games) take on the CF Regionals WoDs
Here they are folks! All up on the board at my gym in red ink. May I say this is a sh*t ton of volume! I predict soreness and many margaritas Sunday night on the 19th. Other than that I will keep my other predictions to a minimum, but I will say I find the difference in programming this year interesting. In 2011, Regionals were lighter and the Games heavy. Last year it was the opposite. Might the Games be heavy again this year?! Who knows…
I do think this could shake up who makes it thru though. The workouts are overall a great deal lighter and more gymnasticy, but in a high volume rather than super skilled way.
This morning I worked on the OHS ladder and the burpee muscle-ups. I won’t go into detail except to say Castro is diabolical in the movements and rep schemes he combines and I’m glad I’m 5’7″. Oh and I wish we could use blocks darn it.
This evening I came back and hit workouts 4 & 5. I’m sure they were harder with less than an hour rest in between, but again I have to ask Castro, “really?!” Did you do these workouts yourself or do you just innately know how to chip away at a body part with one movement that’s required as the foundation for the next? Either way it’s going to be a spicy weekend.
I myself am looking forward to a little redemption on the 21-15-9 Deadlift-Box Jump workout that I bombed in 2011, taking myself out of the running for the Games. I’m also looking forward to that final squat clean for obvious reasons.
Overall I like the workouts just fine BUT I would have done anything programmed, so it doesn’t really matter because…
Anything is possible. You can be told that you have a 90-percent chance or a 50-percent chance or a 1-percent chance, but you have to believe, and you have to fight.
