Hey Fam, Tough WODS we got going on? Heart rates through the roof, can’t get any air, sweat pouring out your eyes and it’s hot. Some crazy stuff coach is making you do. We are pushing you to be a better you. Let’s talk about breathing for a minute. Imagine you’re in a car accident and you’ve crashed off a bridge into a lake. Ever likely? Probably not but let’s go with it, bear with me. What are you going to do? Panic and wait for someone to come get you? I hope not. You’ve got to get out and fast. Try to open the door… that won’t work. You’ve got to wait till the pressure inside the door is equal to the pressure of the water on the outside the door. Are you panicking? Yup, breathing hard? Yup! Because to make the pressures equal you have to let the car fill with water…wait what? Yep, and you’ll have to hold your breath. How deep do you think you’ve sunk into the water? Opening the car door will be hard going against all that water. You holding your breath grabbing your loved ones too, oh my making your way to the surface. You know it’s a good thing you’ve been wodding consistently because holding your breath, getting out of the sinking car is the easiest thing you’ll have to deal with. Hypothermia, any injuries you or someone else have sustained and any number of other craziness could be in your way. But you won’t have to worry about lung capacity because you have new thresholds to sustain you. New strengths, new clarity, new drive, a new engine to help you succeed in escaping and increasing your chances of survival. Congratulations!!
