I spend all day yesterday with the family at Disneyland. We rode rides, ate bad food, waited in lines, and walked around for hours. Such an amazing time with everyone but as I looked around the park during the day, I saw a lot of faces that were not having fun and it was the parents. I realized how grateful I am to have my health and how CrossFit has kept me ready for life. Not saying I can tackle a 10K or triathlon tomorrow but I sure as hell can handle a day or 2 walking around a theme park. Parents were on the floor sitting looking defeated and it was only noon! Of course I don’t know their full story and if they were just sad for spending $1000 on corn dog or if he’s kid just yelled at him because her princess dress was sold out. What I did know was that I didn’t need a scooter or walker to be able to make it around the park all day.
Crossfit to me is about longevity. I want to be able to hold my kids in line, chase them around the playground when I get “older”, and enjoy the day instead of dreading it. Ok…and a six pack would be nice too, I just need to put down the churro and back away.
