When I first started working out I knew very little about mobility, range of motion or recovery. I would walk into “insert globo gym name here” with my gallon of water and do all the lifting with no real purpose. I actually was that guy that made fun of CrossFit for a long time until I tried it out and realized 1. I wasn’t in shape at all and 2. I wasn’t taking care of all the little things that come along with fitness. I was never conscientious of my mobility or how little range of motion I had, it was like a light clicked in my head and from then on I wanted to ensure that all the little things were getting attention. Life can get hectic and sometimes we don’t find ourselves in the box as much as we like to but that doesn’t have to stop us from gaining the knowledge to progress in our lifts, our mobility, that one move we are trying to master. Take the time to work on those progressions that go hand in hand with these movements and lifts and I guarantee you will see the improvements come in time. I challenge you as athletes to find a movement or lift that you want to improve and dial in those little things and enjoy the results that come!
