I’m getting old, yup I said it. The big “38” is coming up at the end of the month and I’m realizing a few things I need more of….rest and time to warm up. When I first started crossfit I was able to work out 4-5 days a week and not even need to warm up. Flash forward to getting married and 1 child later…4-5 days a week will wreck me if I don’t take care of myself during the week.
Recently I bought myself a Powerdot (muscle stimulator) and have been using it every night after I workout and it’s been a game changer. I wake up less sore and feel ready for the next day. On top of that I’ve been using the SFH Magnesium supplements we are carrying at the gym. I’m getting much better sleep and feel refreshed in the morning.
Now do you need all of these things for maximum recovery? Not at all. First thing you can do is cool down after a WoD. I know schedules are tight but try to spend 10-15 minutes to roll out on the foam roller, stretch, and spend 5-10 mins of an easy pace on the bike. Do this for a few weeks!!! I dare you!
