I get asked all the time on how and why I get up so early to work out. It’s not easy, it’s not for everyone but for me it it works. Want to try starting your day with trip to CrossFit Oxnard? Check out my tips below.
NO EXCUSES! Not a tip but the whole reason why I workout as early as I can. Starting your day with a WoD makes it your first priority. Nothing will “come up” and you won’t have any distractions keeping you from going to the box.
- Plan ahead: I read this in a fitness magazine when I was member of a globo gym and it has really helped my mornings. Pack your gym bag the night before, lay out your gym clothes, pre-workout/protein shaker measured out, and if you’re a caffeine fiend like me, set that coffee pot on auto. Doing this puts it in your mind that you WILL work out in the morning and if you end up waking up late it’s just one thing less you need to worry about.
- Find a Thunder Buddy: We have a great group of athletes in all our classes make a few new friends at the box. Text each other to make sure you will meet there will help no matter what time of day you decided to get your sweat on. No one likes to be left hanging or be “that guy” and bailing out on a friend.
- Go to sleep! I love my sleep. Being a dad of a toddler I don’t get much of it and I want more all the time. But just like I try to put my son down around the same time every night, I try to do the same for myself. Turn off the laptop and put away your phone 25 minutes before you want to go to bed. A goods night rest will make it easier for you to throw down with the 5AM crew.
- Jedi Mind: Again, not a tip but a benefit from exercising to start your day. You’ll feel focused and energized to tackle the day ahead. You’ll have a feeling of being productive and your day is started! Win!
