It’s a bitter sweet day today at the box. A long-time friend, coach, and member of our CFOx family has been re-missioned to the Chicago area, following her husband as he accepts a job training training future Navy divers.
Rachelle Gremo is one of those people who has this aura of mystery about her. She’s not overly talkative nor will she volunteer a great deal of info about herself unless you ask. Yet, behind those dazzling eyes and RBF is someone who has a heart of gold. She cares a great deal about family, friends, and those around her. I’ve never spent any time with Rachelle where she wasn’t an absolute pleasure and I left feeling better for knowing her.
Rachelle joined our gym many years ago and quickly became a big part of our community, and she has been a consistent presence in classes during her time with us. Rachelle loves CrossFit, annually attends Regionals and the Games, and between her and Coach Brenda, can tell you the stats and shoe sizes of every top level CrossFit woman alive.
Rachelle took her love of CrossFit to the next level by getting her CrossFit Level 1 Coaches cert, followed by her CrossFit Weightlifting cert, and has participated in more competitions than any other CFOx athlete. She has been an indispensible part of the box, and it will be very apparent that she is no longer around….namely by noticing Jake isnt right behind you trying to steal your lacrosse ball.
Unfortunately, the US Navy has seen fit to station her love to the midwest, very close to where they first met. So our loss is their gain and Rachelle is going to be taking her talents, her smile, and that subtly infectious positive attitude of hers and brightening the lives of so many people in the Great Lakes area as she brightened ours for so many years.
Rachelle, we’re going to miss you to death. I guarantee Brenda is crying right now. We’re grateful that we consider you family, so we know you’ll be back. We know great things await you in your new career and we wish you all the best in your next adventure.
