Quick Bio: I grew up in Ventura in a loving home with hard working parents and my younger brother. While attending Ventura College, I met my future husband, Scott, in a firearms class! We went to Fresno State together and were married over 18 years ago! We have two amazing sons who have added so many adventures to our lives!
Occupation: Deputy Sheriff
How I found CF: I’ve always been active….In high school I ran track and Cross Country, but once I had kids all of my time was dedicated to them. I would make time to go for walks and stayed active playing with my boys, but I only worked out sporadically. Once my boys started playing football I realized they are at practice for two plus hours a night and I could be sitting around on the practice field socializing or make some time for myself and start going to the gym. I finally let go of some of my mommy guilt and replaced it with the new found power of working out!!! I went to the gym for a couple of years and also did some bootcamp’s, but I started to get bored. Several guys from work had told me about CF and one day I decided I wanted to take my workouts to the next level and try it out! I was instantly hooked!!!
Why I CF: I love the community atmosphere of CF!! Everyone is helpful and encouraging! I’ve never been bored with a WOD! I love the fact that I don’t have to think up my own workout! I just show up, look at the board, do my WOD and leave exhaust, but satisfied that I have accomplished so much in an hour! Then I find myself excited and guessing what tomorrows WOD will be!
Favorite workouts/why: I have to admit when I started CF I was a little intimidated! I have never lifted heavy weights or done some of the movements. Right now some of my favorite workouts are the cardio or body weight wods, but a year from now as I get better at some of the lifts I’m sure I’ll have a different answer. Cindy is my favorite benchmark because it was my first RX WOD.
Least favorite benchmark: Jackie because of the rowing and thrusters! I know my form still needs tweaking!
Least favorite movement: Hand stand push ups, OHS and TGU. I find myself over thinking at times and questioning what I’m trying to do and how my body is doing it! I know practice will only make me better, but it’s frustrating at times.
My super power: Making people smile
Words of advice for new CF: Be prepared to be sore as you find muscles you didn’t know were there! Don’t become overwhelmed! Do the things that make you uncomfortable! Allow yourself to be pushed to new limits! Celebrate your PR’s!
Any last comments: I’ve only been doing CF for 6 months and I am amazed at how much I’ve already accomplished…..I’m more toned, have gained muscle and confidence and am learning so many new things and making friends! I feel like I came to CF as a caterpillar and am now morphing into a butterfly!!
