I’m a simple girl who enjoys the simple things in life. I am 26 years old as of February 7th. I was born and raised in Oxnard. I have played softball and basketball since I was a child and eventually I earned a Division 1 scholarship to play softball in college. This gave me an opportunity to visit many places along the east coast, which I am grateful for. I just recently graduated with my master’s degree in May of 2017 from Cal Lutheran. I currently live with my boyfriend who I have been with for 9 years (high school sweet hearts lol). I also have a little sister who is a freshman in high school who I am super proud of and who is my world. You might see us on occasion when I am dragging her into the gym :D. I also have 2 Australian cattle dogs who are crazy, to say the least.
I currently work as a mental health clinician providing therapy services for children and families in the child welfare system.
Softball of course! Learning, documentaries, mindfulness meditation, frisbee with my dogs, and being my sister’s annoying older sister who tell her how to play softball (jk she loves me). She’s also a secret stud who plays varsity softball as a Freshman :].
How You Found CrossFit and/or Why You CrossFit:
After college softball I was like what now? So I started to go to a “globo gym” but it was soooo boring. Then, this is actually kind of a funny story but my boyfriend was a bartender and met the CrossFit coaches while he was bartending and he came back home and was like “Hey I met some CrossFit coaches and they look pretty buff, you want to try it?” And I said, “Sure” and as soon as I tried it I loved dying every single time. Long story short my boyfriend stopped going because now he’s busy doing cop stuff and I stayed! I love the intensity of each work out and I can count on getting a solid work out in every time I go to the gym.
Favorite Workout(s) and Why:
Team and partner workouts! It is so fun when you have someone pushing you, unless you’re the last one to be picked like in P.E. class, then that’s a little awkward haha.
Favorite Movement(s) and Why:
Is there a favorite? It’s all hard to me lol. If I had to pick, I would go with cleans. I also think I’m good at shuttle sprints, shout out to them basketball days.
Least Favorite Workout(s) and Why:
Karen (150 wallballs). How do people’s legs and quads not burn so bad?
Least Favorite Movement(s) and Why:
Hmmm probably running and rowing because my legs are moving but I am going nowhere.
I am empathetic and patient :] It is especially important to have these characteristics with the work that I do.
Words of Advice For New CrossFitters:
Even if you died and felt like you didn’t do your best, know that you just got better that day and in the long run you are getting stronger. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Any last comments:
Thanks to all the coaches for picking me I feel so honored that you have noticed my gains and I couldn’t have done it without you all teaching me new things and pushing me every class! Lol I’ve been trying hard to get better. Thank you to all my girls and everyone who has pushed me every time I am struggling and coughing up a lung, you all helped me get better! Shout out to Coach Brenda for letting me borrow her pants and hair ties every time I show up to class after work missing my stuff. Our coaches are always there to count on, even when you need pants lol. Also thank you to all the coaches for providing a positive work out environment and making us all laugh, you all are hilarious!
