When I’m not at the box, I’m hanging out with friends, painting my nails, cooking, playing with my son’s toys, or at Disneyland.
How/Why I Crossfit:
I was working out at another gym for a few months, but I wasn’t completely happy. My brother kept telling me to try Crossfit. I finally gave in and as a late birthday gift he paid for my OnRamp. I finished my OnRamp class last year in September and I’m absolutely hooked.
I have never been an athlete or did any sports growing up, but Crossfit has given me self confidence and the coaches motivate me to push myself. I love seeing what my body is capable of doing and how strong I’m becoming.
Overall, I have a love/hate relationship with workouts but if I had to pick my choice would be Hero WOD’s because I admire the stories behind them. The workouts can be grueling but I feel motivated knowing that it is in honor of a fallen hero.
SQUATS HELLO!!! I love all types of squats, air squats, back squats, front squats, you name it. Because no one ever wrote a song about a small butt. Oh… Cleans and Deadlifts too. 🙂
Least Favorite Workouts:
Anything where we have to run over 200m. I have noticed that the running WODs end up being the ones that I like the most at the end because I’m glad I got through it.
Least Favorite Movements:
I LOVE BURPEES… said no one ever. Double Unders!!! I have a hard time being consistent with my DU’s which occasionally drives me crazy. It frustrates me to the point that I just want to quit.
It would be being able to balance my motherly duties, work, making it to the gym even if its at 6 in the morning and still have time for myself.
Words of Advice:
When I first started Crossfit I felt intimidated watching others who had been Crossfitting for a while. You shouldn’t feel nervous coming into the box because we all have different strengths and weaknesses. Don’t compare yourself to others, just come with a great attitude and be ready to have an awesome time working out.
I want to thank Shawn Carlo for putting up with me complaining and telling me to not suck. Michelle, for mentally pushing me to believe I am stronger than I think I am. Joe, for creating such a great community that I am proud and happy to be a part of. Jeff, for playing N’SYNC and Britney Spears while I work out. Scott, for always being very supportive and inappropriately funny. I want to thank Michael and Maritza for making me a CrossFit addict and Baby Chris for being my number one motivator.
